Mennonite Social Action Committee - Copán (CASM)
Our organization:
We are a Christian non-profit organization that facilitates processes of human development based on the principles of the Mennonite Anabaptist tradition (peace, justice, non-violence and solidarity). We work hand in hand with communities, municipal and regional groups, and other organizations to strengthen and empower these organizations as representative and democratic structures that are better able to engage at a political level. We also provide timely care to families in emergency situations, without distinction.
Vision and Mission:
We are a Mennonite non-profit that accompanies people and communities in integral human development processes, supported by Christian ethical values and a human rights approach. We work with families and social organizations for the transformation of Honduras into a more just society.
Here in Honduras, we're known as CASM - the Comision de Accion Social Menonita. We're located in Copan Ruinas in the department of Copán, and are one of seven regional offices working in the poorest communities in Honduras. The purpose of our work is to improve the lives of people through these strategies:
- Strengthening of citizenship and human rights
- Reducing socio-environmental vulnerabilities
- Better social and economic productivity
- Institutional development
